That's why we call him the socialist president

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...

White House spokesman, Jay Carney says,
"I don’t believe there are any constitutional rights issues here,"
when commenting on the the administration's Health and Human Services mandate which would require Catholic employers such as schools, hospitals and charitable organizations to provide a full range of contraception, sterilization and abortifacient services to their employees.

What part of "...or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." don't you understand?

Let me get this straight, the administration has stated:
"...this proposal strikes the appropriate balance between respecting religious beliefs and increasing access to important preventative services,”
...because they've decided to give the Catholic Church an extra 12 months to get their doctrine in line with the Obama administration's birth control policies.

Again, Jay Carney stated,

It sounds like the administration has decided there are some religious beliefs that should be permitted and others that should not.
How many religious groups actually stand for something?
What if the White House said Jewish run delis had to start provided free sausages, ham and bacon sandwiches to all their employees because the FDA ruled it's part of a full course of preventative nutritional services?

What if the White House ruled that all Muslim run groceries had to provide free alcohol to all their employees because it's part of the full course of culinary pleasures?

What if the White House ruled that all Mormons had to provide free coffee to all their employees because caffeine is a basic human right?

This isn't about contraception. It's about the right to practice your religious freedom. All people of faith should be concerned about this. It's not just a Catholic issue.

Darling dearest Mumzie,

It's a lovely post. I just have three things to quibble about (or is it "quibble over"? "for to quibble"?). First and second, you left the hyphens out of "Jewish-run delis" and "Muslim-run groceries"; third, after mention of the Jewish delis, you wrote "had to start provided" instead of the more correct "had to start providing."

Lots of love,

Moi (that's "me" in French)

I think it's "with which to quibble," and I believe quid pro quo would be that you start your own blog dearest daughter...then you can quibble to your hearts content.

Love,
Mumzie
